Opening Day 2015

"It's the most wonderful time of the year." -Andy Williams

I know, it' a Christmas song. But that's what today is for a guy like me. It's Opening Day! The greatest day on a baseball fan's calendar. I couldn't be happier. Hope springs eternal, everything is new, and blah, blah, blah. You get it. It's time for baseball.

To be fair, this offseason was a little easier to take. When baseball left us the San Francisco Giants had won the 2014 World Series in 7 games over the Kansas City Royals. It's a little easier to get through the long, cold, dark winter when your favorite team has just won it all. I was beaming with pride all offseason whenever I wore my Giants gear in public. Which was quite often. Remember, I live in Florida and love to give the reminder that the Giants are the champs.

Ok, one more time for shits and giggles and then I'm moving on to 2015.

Everybody enjoy that one last time? Good. On to 2015.

If you're looking for my Giants season preview you can find it on TortureCast.com. I'm going to be doing a lot of work with those guys this season and I'm really looking forward to it. Ben, Chad, and Willie are a lot of fun and great Giants fans. My preview is 3 parts and here are the links.

So today's the day. All the teams are 0-0 and everyone thinks their team can win it all. Well, maybe not Phillies fans, but you get the idea. Here's where I'm going to make my predictions for the 2015 baseball season. First some Giants stuff, then I'll take a crack at picking the playoff teams and award winners. I just want to be able to look back in October and laugh at myself. Come laugh with me.

HR Leader- Brandon Belt 27
Batting Average- Buster Posey .315
Triples- Nori Aoki 15
ERA- Madison Bumgarner 2.51
Surprise Minor League Guy- Mac Williamson
Best Bromance- Tim Hudson/Madison Bumgarner
Most days on DL- Angel Pagan (Prove me wrong Angel! Please.)

As for the rest of baseball, here's my playoff picks and award winners.

AL West- Seattle Mariners | AL Central- Detroit Tigers | AL East - Balitmore Orioles
AL Wild Card - Boston Red Sox, LA Angels
AL Champion- Detroit Tigers

NL West- San Francisco Giants | NL Central- St Louis Cardinals | NL East- Washington Nationals
NL Wild Card- New York Mets, Chicago Cubs
NL Champion- San Francisco Giants

WS Champion- San Francisco Giants

I know, I know. Seems like a total homer pick. I guess it kinda is. Just remember, under Bruce Bochy the Giants have never lost a playoff series. If they get in, they are the most dangerous team. On to the awards.

AL Cy Young- David Price (Det)
AL MVP- Mike Trout (LAA)
AL Rookie of the Year- Carlos Rodon (CWS)
AL Manager of the Year- Lloyd McClendon (Sea)

NL Cy Young- Clayton Kershaw (LAD)
NL MVP- Buster Posey (SFG)
NL Rookie of the Year- Kris Bryant (CHC)
NL Manager of the Year- Joe Maddon (CHC)

Take all my picks with a grain of salt. The truth is none of us knows what is going to happen over a 162 game season. I picked the Giants to win it all in 2013 and we all saw what happened.

It's time for baseball folks. Let's sit back, relax, and enjoy the game we love. Remember to be kind out there in the Twittersphere and have fun with all of it. More memories are to be made with the game we all love.
